SEGA admits that recent Sonic games lack quality and promises better titles
The beloved “Sonic” franchise which started in late 90’s had met many bad games along the road ever since it made the transition to 3D. The last of which was “Sonic Boom” that many argue is the worst Sonic game to date. SEGA seems to acknowledge the fans concerns and is promising better games that go back to the roots of the famous blue hedgehog.
We can’t deny that there were some good Sonic games recently like Sonic Generations and Sonic Colors, but games like these have been rare and far between which made fans seriously doubt the future of the series. Marketing director at SEGA Europe spoke recently on the subject and how he as well would like to see Sonic going back to its glory days. According to him, SEGA is looking into making better quality games that are inspired by the golden age.
“Sega has publicly apologized to the fans as the quality of console games in the Sonic franchise hasn’t been acceptable over recent years. It’s been tough translating that iconic side scrolling 2D experience from the 90s into 3D but Sonic is still huge for us so the new games will be more inspired by how it played in its heyday.”
Last current addition to the series Sonic Boom was met with a negative reception caused by the games poor quality and bad technical aspects and was announced as one of the worst Sonic games ever, which caused SEGA to formally apologize to fans and promise better quality titles in the future.
