Serious Sam 4 is still coming and to feature cutting edge technology
Looks like the next game in the Serious Sam franchise won’t be just another regular shooter, but one that features some very advanced technology according to the devs at Croteam.
Croteam has been quiet about Serious Sam 4 since its announcement in 2013. Lead designer Davor Hunski and chief marketing officer Damjan Mravunac said the Serious Engine has seen considerable upgrades, even compared to the version used in The Talos Principle.
Technology such as motion capture and photogrammetry are being incorporated into the engine and will be used with Serious Sam 4. Interestingly, one developer said the small team approach Croteam employed with The Talso Principle seemed to render better outcomes, and an overall focus for the team.
Serious Sam 4 will also have a form of copy-protection similar to the one used with Serious Sam 3 and The Talos Principle, in that a certain part of the game becomes impossible to overcome if the copy is pirated.
