Shenmue 3 becomes the highest-funded game in Kickstarter history with $6.3 million

The funding campaign is over with a bang. Dreamcast’s franchise continuation successfully raised more than what’s enough to develop it and became Kickstarter’s highest-funded game, beating previous record-holder Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

The raised amount reached $6.3 million dollars thanx to 69,320 backers worldwide who will get their tier rewards once development is finished comes 2017, when the game will be released for PS4 and PC.

Shenmue 3 is also considered the fastest project on Kickstarter to reach both 1$ and 2$ million dollars, so that’s three records under the belt.
