Steam to start accepting Bitcoin as payment soon

With the increasing popularity of the virtual currency Bitcoin as a payment method, it looks like Valve is getting with the times by talking about implementing a system to allow transactions using the internet’s favorite coin.

The method will convert the price of an item from the store’s current price to equivalent Bitcoin counterpart when a user attempts to buy using it. Reports have said Valve spoke to developers about the new system that will be processed with the help of an external party.

“Bitcoin is becoming an increasingly popular online payment method in some countries, and we’re enabling a system that insulates partners from risk and volatility while still providing value to the end customer,” wrote Valve.
