Street Fighter V support will last for several years
Upcoming Street Fighter V producer talked a little about his fighting game in a recent interview with a gaming website. The main point was him pointing out that the team intends to support the game as much as they can and that might be for the next five years or so.
Yoshinori Ono was asked about the duration of Street Fighter V’s gradual transformation to a more complete experience like Street Fighter IV is with its massive 44 characters roster. Ono answered that it would take five years and he intends to support the game for that long if his new model proved successful.
“A lot of it will depend on once the game’s out in the wild, and if the model we make comes to fruition and I can be proven right about it being the right choice,” Ono replied.
“Simple maths suggests it’d take five years to get to the roster of Street Fighter 4, and we want to keep the game going for that amount of time. We want to support it as long as we can, we honestly will have to see – we don’t know anymore than anyone else does how it’s going to turn out next February, once we do this completely new way of doing things.”
The new model in question is a single edition of the game, with additional characters and content releasing regularly with the ability to buy it using in-game money. New characters will be added each month and we have an idea of who to expect in the first couple of months.
Street Fighter V is coming to PC and PS4 February 16 next year.
