Team EnVyUs surprise CS:GO fans with sad news

We all noticed how Team EnVyUs’s performance in the competitive sports arena of CS: GO was reduced, but who expected this news?

EnVyUs have announced that they have released their Counter-Strike players with immediate effect.

The decision, which also applies to EnVyUs’ academy roster, follows a series of lacklustre results from the main team, who were only able to win one event in the last 12 months, DreamHack Open Atlanta.

EnVyUs expanded into Counter-Strike in 2015 with the signing of LDLC’s roster and quickly became a powerhouse in the scene, winning several international titles, including the DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca Major.

But in February 2017, the North American organisation lost the core of their team to G2 and were unsuccessful in their attempt to build another line-up capable of challenging for titles. With Christophe “SIXER” Xia and Alexandre “xms” Forté as stand-ins, the team made their last appearance under EnVyUs at the CS:GO Asia Championships, finishing in third-fourth place.

“We have enjoyed working with each and every player, coach and manager involved with the Envy CS:GO and Academy teams in Europe these last four years,” Envy Gaming CEO Mike Rufail said in a statement.

“A piece of our heart will always be with the players and fans in France that helped us grow the popularity of competitive Counter-Strike across the globe.

“I am extremely proud of our teams’ accomplishments and wish our players nothing but success as they find homes with other CS:GO organizations.

“Team Envy would not be what it is today without our history in Counter-Strike, and I look forward to sharing our plans in CS:GO with the fans in the future.”

In a press release, EnVyUs revealed that they are ready to shift their focus, with the organization now looking to build “a competitive Counter-Strike presence for Team Envy in North America.”

The players have not yet revealed whether they will stick together or go their separate ways. Earlier on Wednesday, Fabien “kioShiMa” Fiey wrote that he will soon release a statement to explain the team’s situation.

The following players have now been released from their contracts by EnVyUs:
