The first official Rocket League championship kicks off this month

The first real competition that Rocket League players have a chance in participating in is reportedly kicking off (pun intended) this month, with a collaboration between Twitch and Psyonix to present the Rocket League Championship Series.

The championship was announced by Psyonix, and it presents the very first approach of the game towards the Esports industry with the help of streaming giant Twitch, which has the exclusive rights to broadcast the competition and produce its matches. A prize pool of $75.000 will be handed to the champions after the three months season of the championship concludes.

“The Twitch community has collectively rallied around Rocket League to help it achieve organic success on our platform,” said Twitch’s Nick Allen, director of e-sports operations. “By working with Psyonix to build an official professional league around this grassroots phenomenon, Rocket League’s legions of players and fans can potentially turn their passion into a career.”
