‘The Last Of Us: Remastered’ graphics almost didn’t fit on a blu-ray
Looks like the PS4 version of one of the best and most visually stunning games from the last generation of consoles almost didn’t fit on one blu-ray disc .
In an interview with Edge magazine , Neil Druckmann the creative director spoke about the difficulties the studio ran by in fitting the game’s content in there .
“Our cinematics are now running at 1080p and 60fps, and that involved rendering them all from scratch. It’s interesting that now [instead of a technical bottleneck], the bottleneck is ‘Can we fit all this on the disc?’” he said.
Despite the size issue, ‘Naughty Dog’ solved the problem and managed to even put high-quality assets in the game which are the same used in cinematics.
“We don’t build it with high assets in mind to then port it, but it did give us a leg up. If we hadn’t done that, we might not have made the call to bring it over to PS4,” Druckmann said.
The PS4 version will also get better lighting , higher quality enemy models , and the additional content which was released for the PS3 like the ‘Left Behind’ DLC .
The Last Of Us: Remastered is to be released for the PS4 this year.
