
This is how Dota 2’s The International prize money will be split
Annual event for Dota 2 players worldwide “The International” is going to be special this year, as Valve announced that the prize money that came mainly from Compendium sales have now reached more than $17 million dollars making this year’s tournament the biggest yet.
The amount of money that is being raised ($17,087,016 at the moment) is more than all of the previous iterations of this tournament combined. Valve also announced how the money will be split between the attending teams which will be something like this in time of writing:
- 1st place: $6,151,326
- 2nd: $2,648,487
- 3rd: $2,050,442
- 4th: $1,452,396
- 5th: $1,110,656
- 6th: $1,110,656
- 7th: $768,916
- 8th: $768,916
- 9th: $205,044
- 10th: $205,044
- 11th: $205,044
- 12th: $205,044
- 13th: $51,261
- 14th: $51,261

Compendium Book is still on sale until the event starts August 3 so you can contribute more to the prize pool. Attending teams include EHOME, compLexity Gaming, MVP HOT6ix, Natus Vincere, Vici Gaming, Evil Geniuses, Team Secret, Invictus Gaming, LGD Gaming, Cloud9, Team Empire, Virtus.pro, Newbee and Fnatic, in addition to 2 more spots that the four teams CDEC Gaming, Team Archon, MVP Phoenix and Vega Squadron will be fighting over.
