“Vast majority” of Xbox One owners uses Kinect according to Microsoft

The movement tracking device that started its humble journey back in the days of Xbox 360 hadn’t been received all that well, especially after the early plans for it with the Xbox One and the mandatory inclusion which raised the price for the whole unit. However, you’ll be surprised that according to Microsoft the vast majority of Xbox One owners have used a Kinect.

Speaking to an interview, Microsoft’s Chief Marketing Officer at Xbox Mike Nichols talked a little about the peripheral saying that without going into numbers, a lot of people use their Kinect for various tasks outside gaming.

“When the team was launching we assumed 100 percent ownership and use of the Kinect. There was a simplification from a design perspective. There was a simplification from a design perspective. Now we’re not designing for everyone who has it or everyone doesn’t have it. We’re designing for a good chunk who have it and use it and some new customers who now have decided to get an Xbox One who don’t have a Kinect, at least not yet.”

Xbox One is now available without Kinect for $350 currently through many offers, as well as an upcoming 1TB model that will be soon released.
