Virtus.Pro wins DreamHack Masters Las Vegas tournament
Everyone’s favorite Polish team Virtus.Pro managed to defeat another top-class CS: GO team, SK Gaming yesterday at the DreamHack Masters grand finals in Las Vegas.
The road to the finals itself was impressive for both teams, and they both showed they deserved to reach that spot last night as they battled it out in a three maps final match where Virtus.Pro was crowned as the champion for this $450,000 tournament.
The match started with Cobblestone, VP’s map of choice. Despite that fact it was the Brazilians who took advantage and managed to best Virtus in most of the rounds with impressive performance of AWPer “snax” and co. The map ended with a result of 16-8.
Next it was Train, where things started to get better for VP. Even though the poles lost some of the starting rounds to SK they were awakened later on to show their full power as the map ended in a close 16-11 result for VP.
It all came down to this one last map as both teams had one under their belt. Mirage was to settle this competition, an it did. In a mostly equal performance both sides traded blows with Virtus.Pro never allowing SK to enjoy a comfortable lead. This resulted in a 16-13 final result and VP being crowned as the new champions of the latest DreamHack big event.
The win surely gave Virtus players a boost, as not only they had revenge over Astralis who won last month’s ELEAGUE final, but they also took it all the way to the grand finals and beat SK. VP won $200,000 while SK got $100,000 for their efforts and Astralis came third with $25,000. Congrats to all!
