Watch the reveal trailer for Call of Duty: WWII, first details emerge

Just like promised, Activision finally unveiled the curtains on this year’s Call of Duty game with a livestream giving us the first look at Sledgehammer’s WWII.

Call of Duty: WWII tells a “dark” story about the world war according to Sledgehammer Games representatives, who attended the iMax, London theater to reveal the game. The development process took two and a half years of hard work to bring back the action series to its roots where it will be giving us fast grounded action and a compelling realistic story about a soldier and his squad.

Devs stressed on the importance of this year’s CoD being authentic and as accurate as possible to actual events of the war. The team interviewed actual veterans as well as historians to make the game as close as possible to telling a believable story of honor and bravery.

CoD: WWII starts off at the Normandy landing and focuses on epic moments with thrilling close quarters combat while advancing in the story to other multiple places like France and Germany. The story will be focused on the player’s squad and themes of brotherhood and companionship, with some of them becoming playable for certain parts of the campaign.

As for multiplayer there weren’t much details other than it will be boots on the ground where players reflexes are the only thing that matters. There was a mention of “War” mode which is basically close to Battlefield 1’s Operations, taking players on multiplayer objectives with a story behind them unlike the other modes.

Watch the trailer below. Call of Duty: WWII launches on PC, PS4 and Xbox One November 3.
