World of Tanks developers to help with an Esports union
Many issues and disputes face a lot of pro gamers in different domains affecting things like his training and events presence. This may soon change as World of Tanks developers are looking into the idea of an official Esports union to protect pro players.
Speaking to one website at League Grand Finals, Wargaming’s head of European Esports Nicolas Passemard spoke about the problem and how his company is looking into a union to resolve pros issues, saying that at this point the dev can only either get more directly involved or keep having issues.
“So we looked at some options and the best one is to help the pro players create a union for themselves. We have to do it, there will be issues, maybe we aren’t ready [for a players union] but we will find a way.”
If the union became a reality Wargaming promised to help with legal advice and security. However, it also stressed that such thing should be run “by players for the players” and it should be independent.
