Riot Games signs new deal with BAMTech for $300 million

New deal saw Riot Games have officially announcing a partnership with BAMTech, a subsidiary of Major League Baseball Advanced Media, for roughly $300 million dollars on the next few years.

The deal originally reported last month is intended to “push the boundaries of the esports viewing experience, leveraging BAMTech’s best-in-class technology to create additional possibilities and opportunities for fans to access, and connect with, League of Legends.”It has been reported that the deal has a $50million per year guarantee for Riot, through to 2023.

While BAMTech will handle the streaming of League of Legends competitions as well as advertising and sponsorship, games will continue to be streamed on Twitch as they have been in the past. BAMTeach also intends to create a mobile app for viewers to watch via their smartphones

An interview with Riot Games Co-Head of Esports Jarred Kennedy confirmed that the deal would not impact the viewing experience for the 2017 season, and that viewers would not be required to pay for content, although there is a possibility of a premium service becoming available in the future.
