EA feared that its young audience might not know there was a WW1 for Battlefield 1

It looks like we almost couldn’t have had Battlefield 1 if not for the team’s confidence in the game’s concept, as EA’s management thought the young gamers didn’t even know what a World War 1 was like. EA’s CFO Blaje Jorgensen spoke in front of investors about the new game and its old era.

“World War 1, we were worried that many of the younger consumers out there didn’t know that there was a World War 2 or Vietnam, so World War 1. I think what people don’t understand about World War 1 is the technology shift that went on during the war,” Jorgensen added. “People started the war on horseback and ended the war with airplanes and tanks and battleships and submarines. And that’s a huge opportunity for us to be able to do a video game around.”

Battlefield 1 is coming October 21 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
