ESIC organizes a charity event to help disabled gamers enjoy esports

Esports Integrity Coalition, or ESIC for short, took a break from its usual duties of ensuring integrity and cheat-free eSports to unveil its first charity event yesterday through the words of its commissioner Ian Smith

The event, which is held today Saturday, aims to be funded through a long marathon run by Mr Smith himself. He will travel 47 miles through Bristol Village and the surrounding roads to raise funds for UK’s SpecialEffect, which provides technology gifts, video games and accessories for people with special needs.

“We believe that the esports industry needs to demonstrate a commitment to inclusivity and diversity; we believe Special Effect embodies this by providing opportunities to enter the world of gaming and esports to people who might other wise feel excluded from it. ” said Ian Smith through Just Giving website page.

SpecialEffect enables people with special needs to use computers in any way possible – using whichever part(s) of their body that work best – by adapting technology to their individual needs. This can hugely benefit mental wellbeing, self-esteem and quality of life – and much needed fun.
