Fortnite lands on Android: Here’s what you need to know

The first official release of Fortnite on Android mobile phones is here, and this is what you need to know about it

Although the arrival of the world’s most popular online game on Android was only a matter of time – especially after the great success of its rival PUBG – it will not be available for all smartphones, at least during its initial launch. It has an exclusivity deal with Samsung to deliver the game specifically for Samsung Galaxy phones at the moment.

If you are an owner of Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge, S8 / S8 Plus, Note 8, Note 9 or Tab S4 and S3, you will now be able to download Fortnite exclusively from the Samsung Games Store or through the new Epic launcher for mobile devices here.

Fortnite’s assertion came after a week of rumors that it was happening, so it was not unexpected. The new news though is that the exclusivity is going on “for the next few days” according to Samsung, a time that looks much less than the exclusive month rumors spoke about.

The exclusive deal will not come and go without its own benefits for Samsung fans. If you preorder the new Galaxy Note 9 you will have the option of getting 15,000 V-Bucks or Fortnite Galaxy Skin instead of the AKG speakers included with the phone.

Although the launch of Fortnite is an important event in itself, the initial release will not be as complete as you might expect, but will come in the form of an experimental beta that needs more work to reach an appropriate stage of stability and performance. You can book your place for the Beta by clicking on the link. The game will never be released on the Google Play Store and will come through Epic launcher itself. Why you wondering? Maybe it’s because of the 30% cut of sales that Google receives through its store, or you may go with what CEO of Epic stated.

“Epic wants to have a direct relationship with our customers on all platforms where that’s possible,” CEO Tim Sweeney said. “The great thing about the Internet and the digital revolution is that this is possible, now that physical storefronts and middlemen distributors are no longer required.”

Fortnite has made an astronomical number across the PC, Xbox, PS4, Switch and iOS platforms to more than 125 million players, making it one of the biggest online games ever and the Android version had just joined the party, so expect another 100 million !
