
Hundreds of millions of views were registered for League of Legends World Championship
When we say that Esports are a big thing nowadays, we mean it’s really, REALLY big. Just look at the numbers that were released by Riot for its latest League of Legends World Championship and you’ll know what we’re talking about.
Over 334 million viewers watched eagerly the game’s livestreams over four week period, with the average of 4.2 million being there at the same time. If we were to compare numbers with last year, that would be 334 against 288 million viewers in total.
Over 14 million people watched the final between SKT and Koo Tigers at the same time, with a 36 million total. Overall, there were 360 million hours worth of live coverage over the course of the month, which is a lot more than last year’s 194 million in.
It’ll be really interesting to see the numbers of next year, and whether or not they’ll break a new record and participate in this sport’s widespread.
