k0nfig shatters CS: GO world record at DreamHack Masters Marseille qualifiers

OpTic Gaming’s Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke managed to break the CS: GO world record yesterday during a match against Renegeades for a chance to qualify to DreamHack Masters Marseille, following an insane performance that wowed everyone

The new world record was achieved at the match’s second map, Overpass, where “k0nfig” destroyed his opponents racking up an insane 47-21 K/D ratio and an average 164.2 damage per round, outclassing the previous record set by Henrique “HEN1” Teles at 45 Kills. Things seemed to be going perfectly. However, OpTic couldn’t achieve a similar dominance at map three Inferno resulting in an overall loss to Renegades 16-8 and failing to make it to DreamHack.

Looking back at his record game, k0nfig outclassed every other player on the server. In the first half alone he attained over half of his kills with a 32-8 KDR, a 216 ADR, four 3Ks, two 4Ks, and four aces. His CT half consisted of him taking control of middle map for OpTic most of the time, as he commanded the Bathroom and Fountain positions with ease.

The player showed great sadness after being unable to win the next map and so losing the chance to compete at Masters Marseille. “We couldn’t get a good start on Inferno,” k0nfig wrote on Twitter after the game. “Not making it to DreamHack Masters Marseille kills me.”

DreamHack Masters Marseille takes place from April 18 to 22 where 16 of the best teams in the world fight off for their share of the $250,000 prize pool.
