More than seven million Overwatch players so far and more interesting numbers
It looks like gamers have been in love with Overwatch this week. When we say “in love” we mean 7 million players kind of in love, that level of love that only Blizzard games can get.
When the beta managed to attract 9.7 million people in and broke records we didn’t think that a big portion of them would go buy the game, we thought wrong. The game is currently being played by seven million people who have spent 119 million hours of combined play-time, since launch, players have swapped heroes 326 million times and teamed up to deliver 11 million payloads to their destinations.
“Over the months and weeks leading up to release we saw a lot of love and support for Overwatch—from Blizzard gamers, FPS fans, and people who’d never picked up a game like this before—and we’re very grateful for everyone’s incredible passion and enthusiasm,” said Blizzard CEO and co-founder Mike Morhaime on the press release.
“We poured a lot of effort into creating a game—and a new universe—that anyone could enjoy. We’re ecstatic to have had such a successful launch, and we’re looking forward to all of the fun, competition, and new content still to come.”
Overwatch is now available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
