New CS: GO update brings changes to the competitive scene and more
Have you noticed a new update when you logged in to Steam today? Here are the major changes brought by the new CS: GO 1.36.5.3 patch, which is bringing some of the biggest changes in the game this year
The surprise update has been launched for all CS: GO players with a number of interesting tweaks that will change a lot from the game, including special updates for CZ and Tec9 weapons as well as changes to the competitive side of the game with its systems and maps.
The most significant change to the competitive system is the distribution of funds. In the past, the loss in the initial pistol round meant committing to a harsh Eco round thanks to the scarcity of funds estimated at $1400 for the losing team, making it more difficult to fight equally. Now, Valve has adjusted that amount to $1900, giving the losing team an extra $500 that may mean the difference between winning or losing for bringing in a lot of additional options (buying a CZ pistol for example or a Kevlar shield).
The following rounds of initial loss will continue as usual, with $2,400, $2900 and $3400. The goal of this change, according to Valve, is to minimize the harsh impact of the pistol round on the following rounds, giving players a greater chance to stand on their feet and fight equally later on.
The next major change to the competitive arena is the removal of the Canals map, which did not prove to be popular among the players, to be replaced by Austria map, which is also in Group Delta of Casual Matchmaking. Speaking of regular maps, two new community-made maps, Biome and Subzero, have been added to replace Shipped and Insertion.
Moving on to guns, we have two main changes: the modification of the CZ75a and Tec9, plus the SG553 and AUG price changes. For CZ, controlling the semi auto weapon has increased in difficulty to encourage players to use tapping for medium and long distances. Tec9 got the exact opposite change to reduce its recoil to become slightly more efficient at those distances.
The reduction of price for SG553 to $2750 and AUG to $ 3150 came as an attempt from the Valve to increase the popularity of these two weapons, which used to be the most expensive in the category of AR because they have the advantage of a scope, which gives advantage on medium to long distances.
