New details revealed for Atari VCS – more powerful than PS4 and Xbox One?

If you’ve been following console gaming news then you’ve undoubtedly heard about Atari’s planned return to the scene, as it’s releasing the first new gaming system rom the company in over 25 years. Today, we have some new details to share with you

The new console, named after classic Atari 2600 VCS is called simply Atari VCS, and it’s more than a box of nostalgia, it’s a beast of its own. We’re talking here about performance similar to high end PC laptops, running the latest games in amazing quality.

Despite not being announced yet, but Atari is working on delivering exclusive software as well as classic titles for the console. However, it’s pretty much a Steambox at this moment since it was described by the company’s COO as being “The new Atari VCS is a video computer system and platform that lets users enjoy games and the best PC experience on their TV with more exciting online entertainment-driven features/benefits to be announced at a later date.”

As for the hardware side of things, Atari VCS includes unannounced specs that can run 4K 60FPS gameplay on your TV monito. You can control using the classic remote or the modernized controller, and the system runs on Linux OS.

No official pricing yet, but Atari will announce pre order date later in April so stay tuned.
