NuckleDu does it again and wins first major tournament of SFV second season

It looks like the second season of Street Fighter V started the same way its first season ended, as the American champion Du “NuckleDu” Dang of the came back to reclaim the top title.

Capcom Cup victor NuckleDu defeated China’s Zeng “XiaoHai” Zhuojun in the de facto championship match to win the U-League 3 title in Shanghai on Thursday. The event was the first major international tournament since Street Fighter V’s second season launched last Tuesday. XiaoHai and NuckleDu each went undefeated in their respective five-player groups to qualify for Thursday’s final four. Once there, both scored victories over the other two finalists to ensure that their match would be for the championship.

The final battle was a thrilling 5-4 match that went to the final round of the final game. It was different from their last two meetings—the grand finals of the Canada Cup and a Top 16 clash at the Capcom Cup—both of which NuckleDu won 3-0, showing that XiaoHai became better than before and is now the best in China.

As for the third place it was Daimon who scored a 5-3 win over UD to secure his place in the final group. Congratulations to all winners.
