One of Dota 2 and Metal Gear Solid special voice actors passed away
One of the more memorable voices of Dota 2 has left our world, leaving the gaming industry in a brief moment of sadness.
Barry Dennen, the voice behind heroes Rubick, Chaos Knight, and Phantom Lancer in Valve’s Dota 2 passed away on Sept. 26 at the age of 79. He was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital on Sept. 14 after being afflicted by a sudden illness, only for his family to share the sad news about his passing on Dennen’s Facebook page in a message written by them.
The Los Angeles native was known for starring as Pontius Pilate in the critically-acclaimed Hollywood musical Jesus Christ Superstar. He also starred in several other feature films, such as The Shining, Titanic, and Fiddler on the Roof.
His contributions to voice acting became his main focus in the late 1980s, having voiced many gaming characters since then including games like Metal Gear Solid 2 and Jade Empire.
You will be missed Dennen, and we will sure remember you the next time we play as Chaos Knight. RIP.
