Overwatch are coming back strong with exciting first OWL season

Electronic sports have experienced a sudden and gradual decline in the game of Overwatch but are about to be revived thanks to the remarkable attention of the international teams.

The latest Overwatch League team has announced their name and branding, with Florida Mayhem officially joining the line-up of season one teams.

Florida Mayhem will be the Overwatch League brand for the team owned by Misfits Gaming, whose Overwatch squad have been among the most prominent of western teams in the game’s brief history so far. Unlike every other team in the league, all of which represent cities, Florida Mayhem are the only team representing an entire state.

Ben Spoont, CEO of Misfits Gaming, commented in the team’s official announcement:

“We are excited to finally reveal Florida Mayhem. Our primary objective was and is to hit home with Floridians. Florida is an ebullient state full of dedicated, passionate, and hardworking people, values we share as a local company. We’re excited to stand out among the rest and come in with a bang after such strong performances throughout the duration of Overwatch Contenders. We aim to make Florida proud with our explosive (pun intended) playstyle!”

Flordia Mayhem are the eleventh Overwatch League team name announced, leaving just one unconfirmed – that of the second Los Angeles team, whose name is rumored to be the LA Gladiators. The list of confirmed teams so far:

  • Shanghai Dragons
  • Seoul Dynasty
  • London Spitfire
  • Los Angeles Valiant
  • San Francisco Shock
  • Dallas Fuel
  • Houston Outlaws
  • Boston Uprising

  • Florida Mayhem

The Overwatch League is set to kick off with pre-season exhibition matches from December 6th, with the first season beginning on January 10th 2018.
