PlayStation 4 and Xbox One’s tech might not be enough for Dying Light 2

What Techland studio is trying to do with the sequel to zombie survival open-world game Dying Light might be a little too much for the “next-gen” consoles, apparently.

More than 5 million Dying Light copies have been sold so far, making it one of the best selling games of 2015 so far. Naturally, the development team is going to be planning for a sequel that would be coming after “The Following” expansion which was announced yesterday. Their goals seem to be really ambitious and limited by the consoles’ current technology.

“We have lots of very ambitious ideas so first we need to check if these ideas are even doable with the tech that the current consoles provide. We also need to check if our concepts are really as good as we think they are, so we need to prototype things.

“So there is nothing to talk about, and on the other hand there are lots of things going inside our studio where we test, prototype and experiment with stuff.”

This isn’t the first time we hear from a studio that the consoles have already reached their limit, as CD Projekt RED spoke the same while developing The Witcher 3. The question remains: How many more years are left for the current consoles life cycle with this kind of limitation to game development?
