PUBG developers are “in talks” with Sony to bring a PS4 version of the game

When Microsoft announced at the last E3 that Xbox One will be the home of PUBG, or PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on consoles, every PS4 gamer felt left out. However, there doesn’t seem to be a reason to worry just yet.

In a new interview with Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene, Bloomberg website said that “Bluehole is in talks with Sony about introducing a version for the PlayStation” after PUBG launches on the Xbox One later this year.

The way PUBG was announced confused many gamers into thinking it’s going to be a console exclusive for the Xbox One. However, every statement was very clear that “other options” were being considered leading us into believing that this will be a timed-exclusive deal, something Microsoft isn’t unfamiliar with.

“I don’t think anyone in the industry was expecting [this level of success for PUBG],” said Piers Harding-Rolls, head of games research at IHS Markit. “PUBG has arguably risen to be Xbox’s most important exclusive for the end of 2017 and that is something that I doubt Microsoft expected.”

The popularity of PUBG would benefit greatly from being on the PS4, as that console has strongly outsold the Xbox One on a worldwide level with almost 60 million devices sold compared to Xbox’s 20-30 million according to data.

In other news, Bluehole is now worth more than 4 billion dollars, and it has opened a PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds subsidiary company called PUBG Corporation to focus on fast development of the popular title as it leaves Early Access later this year for PC and then on Xbox One.
