Vici Gaming saves the China’s hopes today in DAC DOTA 2 Asia Championship 2018

Today was the final day from group stage of DAC DOTA 2 Asia Championship 2018 tournament in china.

Four Chinese teams were paired against four western teams today, and only one Chinese team survived while NA DOTA came through looking very strong.

Evil Geniuses vs Newbee

They’d obviously come prepared with a game-plan and executed beautifully, stopping Newbee from ever gaining a lead in either of the two short games they played. After this decisive victory from EG, China’s strongest team Newbee had been eliminated from one of the biggest events on their home turf.

Team Liquid vs VGJ.Thunder

Team liquid defeated VGJ.Thunder in two games, to save his spot in the main event playoffs, with 2-0 for Team Liquid and knocking out the second Chinese team today.

OpTic Gaming vs Invictus Gaming

Invictus Gaming were invited to DAC as the defending champions thanks to their win at the Dota 2 Asia Championships 2017, but this was actually their first event on the Dota Pro Circuit. OpTic Gaming may not have won any DPC points yet, but they’re still ahead in terms of LAN experience and took the win in this series. With that, the third Chinese team had been knocked out and NA Dota secured two playoff spots.

Vici Gaming vs Team Secret

The pressure was on for Vici Gaming in the final series of the day. Not only were they playing against the 3rd place DPC ranked Team Secret, but they were also the only Chinese team remaining of today’s four with a chance left at making the main event playoffs.

Their two games against Secret were by no means one-sided and both were some of the longest games of the day, but they closed the series out with a 2-0 win that knocked Team Secret out of the event.

With the Breakout phase complete we now move on to the DAC DOTA 2 Asia Championship 2018 playoffs. The remaining teams are the four top group stage teams and the four teams that survived today’s matches.
