Xbox 360 production officially concluded and reports about next Xbox

Microsoft’s most successful gaming console to date was finally put to rest today after being in production since 2005, as the announcement of production’s conclusion came via Xbox’s head Phil Spencer.

Spencer spoke about how much Xbox 360 meant to Microsoft, and how it was an honor for them to see fans’ passion and love for the console and the success that led to. Sales of the Xbox 360 will continue until current supply dries out but there won’t be any new devices anymore.

“The Xbox 360 helped redefine an entire generation of gaming at Microsoft. I am incredibly proud of all of the work and dedication that went into development of the Xbox 360 hardware, services and games portfolio over the last decade. And I’m grateful to the fans for their continued passion and support. the realities of manufacturing a product over a decade old are starting to creep up on us. Which is why we have made the decision to stop manufacturing new Xbox 360 consoles. We will continue to sell existing inventory of Xbox 360 consoles, with availability varying by country.”

Current owners will still be able to continue activities as usual. Such as online gaming, Games with Gold deals, Xbox Live services and more.

Moving on to the upcoming console. Many reports said today that what comes after the Xbox One is being tested right now, as Microsoft is looking into variable modular designs that have the same part-swapping feature as PCs in order to offer users the ability to build a stronger console. This comes in line with previous rumors, so it has some ground to it.
