EDward Gaming adds Ray to complete their roster for League of Legends next season

EDward Gaming has completed its 2018 roster by signing former Cloud9 top laner Jeon “Ray” Ji-won to become a part of the team’s starting roster.

In joining EDG, Ray returns to the team he played for as a substitute for in late 2015. Ray left China and came to North America, playing for Apex Gaming and Team Dignitas before joining Cloud9 for the 2017 LCS season.

Ray isn’t the only new member to join the team for the new season. EDG has also brought up jungler Chen “Haro” Wenlin and ADC Wang “Hope” Jie to increase competition on the team.

The trio will be joining mid laner Lee “Scout” Ye-chan, jungler Ming “ClearLove” Kai, ADC Hu “iBoy” Xian-chao, and support Tian “Meiko” Ye who retained their places on EDG after a successful 2017 season.

The team managed to win the Summer Split LPL title by beating Royal Never Give Up 3-2, securing themselves the LPL’s first seed at the 2017 World Championship. They failed to make it out of groups, however, after an unsuccessful international campaign. EDG lost twice to SK Telecom T1, with a loss each to ahq e-Sports Club and Ray’s former side, Cloud9.

EDG will hope that Ray’s experience on the international stage will help them take a step further in 2018. Ray was able to help Cloud9 get through the Worlds Play-In Stage and Group Stage, before the team crashed out in the quarterfinals.
