League of Legends publisher is trying its hands at a PUBG competitor and it looks promising
Chinese giant company Tencent has revealed its newest PC games, and it’s non other than a battle royale game coming to China to compete with PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
The game called Europa is being made on QuickSilverX engine, and despite the similarities with PUBG in the formula of 100 players dropping into an exotic island to fight it out to be the last person standing, the game has some stuff to differentiate itself and introduce new ideas to the mix. It feature a dynamic weather system, and destructible environments to be used to the player’s advantage which can be seen in the trailer.
This announcement comes less than a week after it was revealed that Tencent would be partnering with Bluehole to publish PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds in China. It now appears that Tencent is aiming to take the battle royale genre by force in the region.
The game already has a page on Steam, although it is only in Chinese at the moment. It’s expected to launch some time in 2018 with no details yet on Pricing model or an international release.
