Shox and kioShiMa to a new team, Zeus retires and more CS: GO news post-Major

As usual after any of the major tournaments of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, a number of news about offseason transfers have begun to emerge online, and here are the most prominent of which

Starting with news from the French CS: GO scene, it seems that the famous players Fabien “kioShiMa” Fiey and Richard “shox” Papillon may find a new team that brings them together with reports of Vitality looking into acquiring the two, mainly to make up for Nathan “NBK- Schmitt confirmed leave after disappointing fans in Berlin Major.

According to reports, the French organization has listed the two players as main candidates to replace “NBK-” and revitalize its CS: GO lineup. It may be appropriate in the case of “kioShiMa”, who has been looking for a team since leaving Cloud9 last spring, and while “shox” seems uncertain there are heavy rumors that he intends to leave G2 Esports soon anyway.

Moving to the CIS scene, the legendary player Danylo “Zeus” Teslenko confirmed reports of his intention to retire CS: GO after the upcoming BLAST Pro Series events in Moscow next week, with details of his departure coming from the official account of Na’Vi on Twitter.

Zeus has spent 17 years in the professional Counter-Strike scene since its inception, having entered its competitions since 2002 via CS 1.6 and later joining Na’Vi in 2009 to become one of the best European players ever since. The Ukrainian captain continued to play with the squad until 2016 and temporarily joined Gambit Esports to win the first major title in his history, but failed to achieve another major tournament after returning to Na’Vi despite leading the team to win other important tournaments such as ESL One and StarSeries i-League S7.

The replacement for “Zeus” is still unknown, but some rumors have suggested that AVANGAR’s Alexey “qikert” Golubev, runner-up in Berlin Major, could be the one, but that was soon officially denied by AVANGAR.

The Kazakh team was able to impress CS: GO fans everywhere by beating powerful teams such as G2 Esports, Team Liquid and Vitality on the way to the final of the Berlin Major, which they lost to Astralis, so European teams are undoubtedly racing to acquire their young talents. That would not be the case though, as AVANGAR has announced that its current squad will stay still and will not undergo any changes following the participation at  Berlin Major.
