The Game Awards 2018: God of War wins GOTY and here are the eSports awards winners

The Game Awards this year came with a number of surprises, some of which are expected for unexpected games, but the list of winners was not really out of the ordinary.

The show continued for more than two and a half hours by host Geoff Keighly, accompanied by a number of guests, revealing a flood of new games and trailers as well as the 2018 winners. Although Red Dead Redemption 2 took the biggest shareof the cake by winning several awards including best music, best audio, best story, and best narrative, the title of the year went to its PS4 exclusive rival, God of War, which had its share of several other prizes in Best direction and best action adventure game.

Esports Awards started with Tyler “Ninja” Blevins winning content creator of the year (of course), the Best player for esports was the legendary fighting game player Sonicfox for winning a number of important tournaments this year, the Best North American team Cloud9 for the game League of Legends, which in part also won the title of Best Championship for the Worlds 2018, and lastly the Esports game of the year Overwatch developed by Blizzard Entertainment.

The video game trailers shown revealed a new installment of the Far Cry series called New Dawn that will take the players into a standalone expansion of the fifth game, which takes place 17 years after the ending events, as well as a new game from developers of Fallout 1 and Fallout: New Vegas at Obsidian titled Outer Worlds For fans of RPG games and future space. The biggest surprise though was the unexpected unveiling of a new version of Mortal Kombat, where the developer Ed Boon surprised us on the stage with a new trailer that looked rather amazing.

Other announcements included new trailers for upcoming games such as Devil May Cry 5, Rage 2, and a surprising appearance of the Crash Bandicoot video game icon with a new trailer of a Crash Team Racing reboot at last. A teaser of what looks like the upcoming Dragon Age project was also revealed, and we’ll get more Details about it next year.

Of course, how can we forget the PUBG snow map, which has been announced to be available starting now on Test Servers with a new trailer that says it’ll be available for full launch in January. Also, a new space has been announced on the Fortnite map called The Block, where Epic Games will host the best areas designed by the game community.
