Big surprises with the third day of the main event of DOTA 2 The International 8

Few hours ago was the third day of the main event in DOTA 2 the International 8, this day was a big surprise for everyone when some biggest teams fail and leaved the tournament.

WinStrike Team and Vici Gaming clawed for survival in the lower bracket. Today, the dream of hoisting the Aegis will elude both teams at The International 2018.They avoided a day one elimination, but fate would not have them outlast this day. Both teams vacate The International 2018 each placing 9-12th.

FlyToMoon was assembled from nothing in early 2018. By the end of the DPC season, their accomplishments led to a rebranding as WinStrike Team. The Team had fought their way into the main event after a grueling tie breaker series. At the International 2018, WinStrike Team certainly entered the event as underdogs, but were never lacking confidence. It was abundantly clear from a prerecorded interview that they were there to win. To do so, they’d have to breach the VGJ.Storm wall. Alas, the wall would stand firm and the team’s run came to a screeching halt.

VGJ.Storm wasted little time proving to all that the group stage was no fluke. After two consecutive Drow Ranger, push strategies, VGJ.Storm had thoroughly defeated WinStrike Team with 2-0 and team WinStreak leave the Ti8 with placing 9-12th.

On the other hand, Vici Gaming found early success in the DPC season. To a degree such that qualifying for the International 2018 came with ease. As the season dragged on, Vici Gaming lost their grasp on the Meta and struggled to find many accomplishments. The start of the event offered them a new beginning to turn the trend around. Team Secret dropped game one against Vici Gaming, but after a near identical draft by Vici Gaming, Secret made the changes required to dominate game two. In game three, Team Secret was playing so aggrisive, with taking objectives, and leading in the lanning phase. In the end Team Secret defeated Vici Gaming with 2-1 to end thier dreams in the International 8.

In the same time PSG.LGD and OG have continued their dominance at The International 8 and are now one step away from the Grand Finals as they advance into the upper bracket finals.

Team Liquid and PSG.LGD went head to head in what was expected to be matchup of seismic proportions. To the surprise of many, it ended up being heavily one-sided and PSG.LGD were able to seize their place in the upper bracket finals with a clean and tidy 2:0 sweep over the TI7 champions. In the first match the Leshrac and Gyrocopter ended up overpowering Team Liquid’s Phantom Lancer and Necrophos draft. In the second game, PSG.LGD absolutely shellacked Liquid with flawless performances by Lu “Somnus丶M” Yao on Bloodseeker with a 16:0:11 score and Wang “Ame” Chunyu on Phantom Lancer with 7:0:10 record in just over 30 minutes.

Now PSG.LGD continue their TI8 journey in the upper brackets while Team Liquid will once again need to fight their way to the Grand Finals from the lower brackets.

Perhaps the most hyped matchup of the event —aside from the Grand Finals was the clash between OG and Evil Geniuses. The first match of the series started out very evenly contested with the game able to swing in either direction until about 20 minutes in. OG were able to seize the lead, and although they almost lost it shortly later, they were able to maintain a firm grip on it to barrel through to the end to claim the first victory thanks to their incredible coordination.

The second match looked to be all but in the bag for the European squad OG until it wasn’t. About 20 minutes in, OG went down. The play gave EG an opening and the momentum and the North American took control and the match to tie up the series and force a deciding third game.

The third match was about 40 minutes, OG continued to build up their strength and momentum and went forward to destroy Evil Geniuses. And with that, OG secured their place in the upper bracket finals and sent EG to the lower brackets to fight for another chance.

For remember, we are just two days away from the final of DOTA 2 The International 8 (TI8).
