DreamHack Masters Stockholm ends with an explosive finale between two Danish squads

With the arrival of both North and Astralis at the grand final of DreamHack Masters Stockholm tournament, it was a given that we would see a high-level final by Danish players who continue to dazzle viewers every time

Led by Mathias “MSL” Lauridsen, North achieved themselves as a new star on the list of winners of the CS: GO championships this year. The Danish side, which exceeded expectations, was able to stand up against the rival team Astralis, which is one of the best teams in our recent time at Counter-Strike. The road was not easy to reach the first place for the $250,000 event, but a strong final from both teams made it clear that tonight’s best team deserved to take the biggest prize home.

Starting with a choice that some saw wrong for Astralis with the Dust II map as the first one to go, and then North for the Train map as the second, the decisive battle of the best of three began, with Overpass being chosen as the final map had the game went into a tie.

Indeed, the two teams had both one win at Dust and Train despite the biggest loss being of Astralis on their chosen map 16-1. However, the Danish champions managed to get back in Train with a 10-5 dominance in the first half, With the second half ending 16-6. “dev1ce” was the star of that challenge, with a k/d ratio of 22/8.

Having reached the third map, the stakes were high on Overpass, so we saw impressive performance from both teams with three rounds traded at the start of the first half. The draw was not enough, so Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander and his teammates were progressing on the T side as the end of the second half approached. This did not discourage North’s determination, as the team made a powerful round of pistols to weaken the defense of Astralis in the first few rounds of the second half and control the game eco. After Rushing for three consecutive times against weak Astralis weapons, the opposing team finally managed to win the battle to win their biggest victory of the year with a 16-11 result and a final 2-1 holding the title and a $100,000 grand prize.

With this win, North was able to prove again that CS: GO is the same as any other electronic sport: unexpected and full of surprises. Despite the experience of their opponent in big finals, the Danish team won with a determination that did not deter them from achieving their goal, making them the heroes of Dreamhack Masters Stockholm and a strong challenger at the forthcoming FACEIT London Major, which will begin later this week.

Congratulations to the winners and hard luck to the beloved team Astralis!
