PS5 specs, release date, and more rumored in the latest reports

Despite it not being too long ago since Sony released the enhanced PS4 Pro, work has been steady on the next big console from the company reportedly called the PS5

Trusted sources have reported few days ago that the technical specs of the console are being finalized, as Sony is collaborating with hardware giant AMD to use a specialized Zen eight-core CPU coupled with a next-gen Navi GPU chipset in the reported home console.

In addition, PS5 will come with PSVR capabilities built-in, and that’s according to SemiAccurate leak earlier this week. The same source had leaked PS4 Pro and Xbox One X specs earlier on, so it’s safe to say the report is somewhat to be taken seriously.

Firm analyst Michael Patcher spoke out after new rumours hit the web, saying that a Christmas 2018 release frame is “extremely unlikely” due to various reasons, including the fact the PS4 Pro is still so young in its lifecycle. The biggest reasoning though is that developers typically need at least two years with a dev kit to produce a decent blockbuster game.

According to Pachter, Sony’s PS4 successor will most likely release in 2020, although a release in 2019 shouldn’t be totally ruled out.

“The PS5 is probably going to be their real 4K device, and so it just feels to me that they’re not going to launch the PS5 until sales momentum for the PS4 slows, and it just hasn’t.

CD Projekt Red, creators of the Witcher Series, are working on their next game, Cyberpunk 2077, however last month it was suggested that the game could be a cross-generation project and when asked to comment Kiciński explained that technologically-wise Cyberpunk 2077 is “very advanced.” The suggestion then is that not only is Cyberpunk 2077 coming to the next console generation, but potentially the existing PS4 Pro and Xbox One consoles too. A similar strategy was applied by Rockstar for the release of GTA V, which released at the end of the PS3 and Xbox 360 era before releasing a few months later on PS4 and Xbox One.

No news yet for Microsoft’s next big thing, as the Xbox One X had been released just recently with not too many first party exclusives, so we think there’s still a way to go for the current power house of home consoles.
