Saudi Arabia continues to adopt eSports with the latest Al-Nassr FC announcement

Al-Nassr FC, one of the most prominent local football clubs in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, has announced its official adoption of the field of esports in a tweet early today, joining two of the biggest names in the Arab world, Al Ittihad and Al Hilal to enter the field of competitive video games

 

 

The club announced that the club’s management had launched an electronic sports team under the chairmanship of “Saud bin Mohammed Al Swailam”. It will participate in the Saudi eSports league recently announced by the Saudi Football Association and the Union of Electronic and Intellectual Sports.

Hassan Al-Sheikh was appointed as the team’s supervisor, which will include pro players Khalid Al Awfi and Yasser Al Harthy who were signed to represent the team in competitive FIFA tournaments. The club’s chairman, Saud Al Swailam, assured the club will provide all possible contribution to better represent esports within the country.

With a number of international teams and now some of the most prominent Arab teams joining in, the sports community’s view of esports is beginning to shift gradually, thus confirming the great role that these e-activities will play in the future of entertainment and competition for present and future generations.
