Virtus.Pro are the kings of second day at DOTA 2 Kuala Lumpur Major

The second and last day of group stage at DOTA 2 Kuala Lumpur major kicked off earlier today, as the first major event of DPC points in new season 2019.

 

 

There are 16 teams competing in the first Major of the 2018-19 DOTA 2 Pro Circuit. Each group is made up of four teams, which equals out to four groups with four teams in each.

  • Group A consists of Team Secret, paiN Gaming, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and J.Storm.
  • Group B is Evil Geniuses, Vici Gaming, TNC Predator, and Team Aster.
  • Group C has LGD Gaming, Fnatic, Gambit Esports, and Tigers.
  • Lastly, Group D hosts Virtus Pro, Forward Gaming, paiN X, and Alliance.

The group stage will last two days, with all four teams playing best-of-three matches with the other teams in their group. The top two teams from each group will move into the Upper Bracket while the others drop into Lower Bracket before playoffs begin—no eliminations will take place until playoffs.

Group C:

Group C opened up play with Tigers the winner of DreamLeague Season 10 and LGD, but the huge performance by LGD helped them to Defeated Tigers with 2-0. This knocked Tigers into the losers match, while LGD jumped into the winners match. The other opening match in Group C, Fnatic vs. Gambit Esports, was a lot more closely contested. At the end Fnatic beat Gambit Esports with 2-0, that’s sent Gambit to the losers match.

The first game of the winners match was between Fnatic and LGD, LGD was running around Fnatic takes objectives and beat them with 2-0, and LGD went 4-0 in their group and took the first spot in the upper bracket.

After their early defeat, Tigers were ready to bounce back against another slow starter in Gambit. Tigers defeated Gambit with 2-1 and the third game of the seires was the longest game of the day. In the final series of Group C, Tigers faced Fnatic and got absolutely rocked. Tigers tried to form some type of comeback, but Fnatic shut down anything they attempted. With a swift 2-0 victory, Fnatic joined LGD in the upper bracket, while Tigers and Gambit will start the main event on the lower side.

Group D:

Group D was the final step before the main event at the Kuala Lumpur Major—and to no one’s surprise, Virtus Pro were ready to compete. In the first searies at Group D Virtus.Pro defeated Alliance with 2-1, with that win VP moved just one series away from heading into the upper bracket. Unlike the opening series, Forward Gaming handled their business against paiN X pretty quickly. Forward Gaming take the series with 2-0 and went to face VP at the Winners match. In the Winners match VP with dominating perfromace defeated Forward Gaming with 2-0, and claim the first spot in the upper bracket from Group D.

The losers match also went three games between paiN X and Alliance, with big performace from both teams Alliance take this series with 2-1, which sent Alliance into a showdown with Forward for the final spot in the upper bracket. The final group stage battle was very decisive in every game, with all but one being a blowout of some kind. At the end Alliance took this series against Forward Gaming with 2-1 and took the final spot in the upper brackets beside Virtus.Pro.

The playoffs are next on the agenda, kicking off with Team Secret vs. Vici Gaming in a best-of-three in the upper bracket. And the broadcast for all matches is available on this twitch channel.
